ASE - Cheating Indicator
What happens if a student cheats? What does the software consider cheating?

Per ASE and BrightShift policies, the software is programmed to track specific behaviors to detect and prevent cheating.
Once a student reaches the cheating flag limit, the counter does not reset after a restart. If the test is restarted the student can re-enter the exam and submit their test for scoring, but will continue to be logged out of the system if attempting to answer test questions.
Actions such as leaving the test window, resizing or moving the window, minimizing the browser, or attempting to copy exam content are all considered cheating attempts. Any of these behaviors will flag the test and notify the proctor.
Translators and browser extensions will also trigger the cheating indicator.
To avoid interruptions during your exam:
- Stay in the test browser tab
- Do not resize or minimize the window
- Do not close the browser
- Do not attempt to copy exam content
- Disable any browser extensions
All students will be required to acknowledge and accept a pop-up containing the cheating indicator information before starting their test.

The cheating indicator will pop up and notify the student that their test has been paused for cheating

The cheating indicator will not automatically fail a student. It is simply designed to notify the instructor and proctor that certain testing behaviors triggered the indicator during the exam. Failure to follow these guidelines may result in your session closing and your exam being flagged for cheating.
